Small Tree

The small tree has many uses, it can serve as a decorative element near a road. It can be a useful decoration in a zoo, or part of a forest area. In this tutorial, we will show you how to build a simple spruce, fir, or other favorite conifer. The basic model consists of 9 parts: 8 beams and one longer pin.

If you don't have a 3D printer, visit the website geekzoo.cz, where you can order the tree. Otherwise, you can download the parts on Printables or through the BitBeam catalog.

Parts

The model can be printed and assembled in several variants. The basic tree variant consists of one pin of size 8, inserted into the base, formed by either a 5x5 plate or a beam X of size 5x5. Next is one beam in green or brown color as the trunk of the tree. Then there are branches, formed by beams X in green color, arranged from largest to smallest, rotated by 45°. The last one is again a beam in green color as the top of the tree. However, this is just a suggestion, as it is known that trees in the forest often grow as they want and do not follow the exact size of branches or their rotation.

Winter Version

If you master the basic tricks of multi-color printing, you can print the winter version. Simply print the first or last part in white color. The beams will be two-colored and, with the correct orientation, will look like snow-covered trees. The result is very nice and, by an unintended magic, resembles snow-covered trees in the game Minecraft.

Christmas Version

The basic version can, of course, be decorated like any other Christmas tree. Here, we would like to point out that decorating is entirely up to the decorator's taste. For illustration, we used 4 colors: gold, red, orange, and blue. From these, we attached one ball - a 1x1 beam - to the edge of each larger branch (beam X of size 7x7 and 5x5). We use a pin of size 2 printed from transparent material for attachment. And we replaced the top with a gold one. The tree is placed in a beam X 5x5 printed from brown or even wooden filament.
